In this mode, you assume a role of an existing or created player to try to become a legend. You Create a player and start off in the AHL affiliate of an NHL team. As you play, your performance is tracked by your personal hockey card and you are graded throughout the game on Team Play, Stats and Positioning. After a time, depending on your performance, you may be called up to the big show. This is only in the next-gen version for X-BOX 360 and PS3 however as in the PC version, you start in the NHL, on the top line.

You can also play as an NHL Pro, where you select one player and control him as you continue his career. You are graded the same way and can advance to higher lines, sent to the minors or be traded.

In order to compensate how complicated the NHL games have become, EA Sports have added an option to use a simplified style of controls to help new players get used to the game. These controls will use the face buttons to do most of the work, such as A being pass and B being shoot (X and O on the PS3), instead of using the right-analog stick. This is an option

A demo was released on the PlayStation Network on August 28, 2008^[10], followed by the release of the same demo on the Xbox Live Marketplace on September 3, 2008 at 5:00am ET.^{[citation needed]} The demo includes tutorials for shooting, deking and defensive moves while playing as 2008 Conn Smythe Trophy winner, Henrik Zetterberg. Once the player finishes the tutorial (or you can exit the tutorial via the pause menu), he or she then has access to a single 3rd period game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings where the player may choose which team to play as. If the game remains a tie once the period is over, the game will immediately go to a shootout. The "Be a Pro" mode is also available in the demo for a single 3rd period game between Pittsburgh and Detroit. Sidney Crosby and Henrik Zetterberg are the only players available for the "Be a Pro" mode.

NHL 09 has been very well-received, with many reviewers praising the new emphasis on defense, enhanced body-checking (which was practically non-existent in NHL 08), especially the EASHL, which is the first persistent massive multiplayer online (MMO) league in any sports video game. Online play was intermittent at first, with EA servers crashing a few times in the first week, but has since been improved.The PC version has met with much the same response as in earlier years since NHL 2005 the same graphics and watered down versions of the features used on console games.

FIFA 09 is the latest installment of Electronic Arts' FIFA Series of football video games. Developed by EA Canada, it is published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label. It has been given a release date of 14 October 2008 for North America and has been already released on 2 October 2008 in Australia and 3 October in Europe.^[1]

The demo was released on 10 September for PC^[2] and on 11 September for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.^[3]^[4] The only difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360 demos is the stadium, PS3 features the FIWC Stadium while the Xbox 360 version features the new Wembley stadium.

Different versions of covers for FIFA 09 have been unveiled. All covers features Ronaldinho with different players for each region: North America version features Guillermo Ochoa and Maurice Edu, German cover features Kevin Kurányi, Italian cover features Daniele De Rossi, Irish cover features Richard Dunne, French cover features Franck Ribéry, and Karim Benzema, Portuguese cover features Ricardo Quaresma, Spanish cover features Gonzalo Higuaín, Swiss cover features Tranquillo Barnetta and UK and Australian covers feature Wayne Rooney. After the North America cover was already presented, Maurice Edu signed for Scottish team Rangers F.C. and because of that the cover was changed to feature Maurice in a US National Team jersey and Ronaldinho is changed to wearing his Milan jersey, so that a club's jersey was featured.^[5]

It has been stated in an interview with David Rutter that there are over 250 improvements on the game.^[6]

Among the improvements in the new FIFA are improved responsiveness that allows for quicker release of the ball, greater urgency in the off-the-ball running, a new jostle system that takes into account the strength of the players when going shoulder to shoulder and subtle animations that enable players to take first-time shots.

Another of the edition's biggest changes is a completely revamped collision system, which calculates speed, weight and power when the players collide, as each player will have their own individual strength and power statistics depending on their body characteristics.

New goalkeeper technology has also been added which allows for better positioning, better reactions to saves and faster recovery after a save has been made.

An improvement from FIFA 08 is the weather and time. Rain and snow can be switched on and off before games, which affects whether players wear gloves. Games can be played during daytime, night and dusk, however in the latest installment the game eventually turns to night as the second half starts adding to the realistic feel of evening matches.

If a player is substituted during half time, the replacement player is seen warming up and running on to the pitch. However if a substitution is made during play, the players are seen approaching each other. The score of the game has an effect on this, if a player has scored then he waves to the fans and claps before being substituted, however some players react badly to being substituted for example, if they are having a good or disappointing game, or if they are a key player in the squad. Captains have more of an effect in the team. Choosing a squad member who has good captain qualities for example from the players stats under leadership will help the balance of the team.

FIFA 09 will also include a '10 vs. 10' Be a Pro online game and the offline Be a Pro Mode will last for a maximum of 4 seasons.

FIFA 09 will also feature user-controlled player celebrations, like in UEFA Euro 2008, in the PS3 and XBox 360 versions of the game. ^[7]

On 20 August, EA unveiled the new Adidas Live Season feature that will dynamically update player form and attributes each week in-game based on the player's last game to reflect real-world ups and downs. Live Season is a premium service that will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC and covers six leagues - Barclay’s Premier League, La Liga BBVA, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A and Mexican Primera Division. Gamers have access to one league of their choice as a free trial that runs from the moment they activate the service to the end of the 2008-2009 season, while purchasing extra leagues will cost £4.99 each, or all six leagues can be purchased for £12.99.

The Wii version of the game is titled FIFA 09 All-Play and will be launched under EA Sports' new All-Play brand exclusive to the platform.^[11] Even though the Wii will have the normal 11 vs 11 football match like the other consoles, a new feature will be introduced, called 'Footii Match', which is a 8 vs 8 football match. The object of this feature is to beat certain teams from around the world and unlock their 'superstar team captain'. This feature is only going to be on the Wii console. For the first time, on the Wii, FIFA '09 will include the manager mode found in the earlier PC versions of the game.

The PlayStation Portable and DS versions will include a Be a Pro mode for the first time.

The PS3 exclusive game mode is a built-in FIFA Interactive World Cup. This will enable gamers to track their progress & play games through the game rather than be so website reliant.^[12] It was also confirmed that FIFA 09 for the PS3 will be one of the upcoming games that supports rumble with the DualShock 3. In addition, like previous FIFA games, the PS3 version has support for 7-players on the same screen (which was demonstrated in a promo).

Apariţia FIFA 09 probabil că nu surprinde nici un pasionat de jocuri.

Electronic Arts anunţă că FIFA 09 va ieşi in aceasta toamnă şi va aduce o grămadă de bunătăţi:

* 250 de imbunătăţiri şi adiţii la core gameplay
* noi tehnologii de animaţie şi 500 de secvenţe de animaţie
* şuturi mai "responsive"
* control mai bun si mai rapid al driblingurilor
* nou sistem de fizică şi coliziuni
* în sfârşit se văd arbitrii
* 4 noi skills moves: scoop turns, rainbow flicks, heel-to-heel knocks şi ball rolls
* 32 de noi tricks
* sistem de strategie, tactică si line-up
* nou mod "Be a Pro", extins pe 4 sezoane si denumit "Be a PRO: Seasons"

De asemenea, se pare că gameplay-ul va fi diferit in funcţie de platformă, cu un avantaj net pentru PS3 si Xbox 360. PC-ul nu pare sa fie "the platform of choice" pentru EA în acest an, numele apărând menţionat când se vorbeste de schimbări, dar nu in primele rânduri. Oricum tonul comunicatului de presă este destul de ambiguu, neputându-se înţelege exact dacă vom avea toate bunătaţile şi pe PC sau ele rămân pentru console, PC-ul primind nişte firimituri.

Need for Speed: Undercover is the next installment of the popular racing video game series Need for Speed, developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. It is set for release later in 2008.^[1]^[2] An official formal announcement is expected to be made during summer 2008.^[3]

Development

Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello has stated Undercover has a considerably longer development cycle than its predecessors since the Need for Speed development team now is split up into two teams, both of which will work on a 24 month development cycle with future titles, alternating releases between them. When this change was implemented in mid-summer 2007, one team started working on Undercover (giving it only a 16.5 month development cycle), while the other team finished ProStreet (the previous release) and then started working on the next title in the series (coming out in 2009), which will have a full 24 months. He also confessed to "torturing" the development team in the past, in terms of their tight work schedule. He admitted that ProStreet "isn't good" and he is confident Undercover will be much better and more innovative, as well as future releases.^[1]^[2]

Riccitiello also stated Undercover is taking inspiration from action films such as The Transporter, with a large embedded narrative.^[1]^[2]

Features

Frank Gibeau (president of the EA Games label) has stated that due to the fact that the sales of ProStreet didn't live up to EA's hopes for the game, the Need for Speed franchise will go back to its roots with a number of features, including open-world racing and a new highway battle mode.^[4]

John Doyle (developer at EA Black Box) has hinted Undercover will feature a brand new game mechanic and a "Most Wanted-ish" sandbox style of gameplay.^[3]

Need for Speed: Carbon, also known as NFS Carbon or NFSC is an Electronic Arts video game belonging to the Need for Speed series. It is the tenth installment, preceded by Need for Speed: Most Wanted and succeeded by Need for Speed: ProStreet.

Need for Speed: Carbon was first shown in EA's montage at Nintendo's E³2006 conference and booth and was the cover story in the Game Informer magazine issue of July 2006. Carbon is the first in the Need for Speed series to be released for all seventh generation consoles. Carbon features some of cars of its predecessors; namely Need for Speed Underground 2 and Need for Speed Most Wanted, but also incorporates many new additions including the Audi R8 Road Car (called Le Mans Quattro in-game), the Chrysler 300C SRT 8, Chevrolet's Chevelle SS and the Toyota MR2 Spyder. Carbon features the Canadian actress and model Emmanuelle Vaugier as Nikki, the player's main source of help and ally in the Career storyline. The game is now available for use with Mac OS X. ^[3] Need for Speed: Carbon debuted at number one on the UK All Format Gaming Chart on its first week of release, beating Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer.^[4]

Carbon utilizes a heavily modified gameplay engine of Most Wanted.

Need for Speed: Carbon picks up where the player left off in Most Wanted, driving out of Rockport in his recently-retrieved BMW M3 GTR.

Driving through Carbon Canyon in route to Palmont City, a flashback of what seems to be a race against Kenji, Angie, and Wolf comes to the player's mind. A police incident at the end of the race forces the player to make a hasty escape from Palmont. In present day Carbon Canyon, former Police Sergeant turned bounty hunter Cross in his Chevrolet Corvette chases the protagonist down the canyon^[6] leading to his BMW M3 GTR being totaled. Darius then compensates Cross, and the player meets up with Nikki on bad terms.^[7]

Darius tells the player with the help of Nikki to clean up his image by beating the rival racing crews to gain territory and to reclaim his reputation as a respected street racer in Palmont. Winning races one by one, the player acquires territories and ultimately districts from Kenji, Angie, and Wolf. As the player meets up with racers who want to join the player's crew, several of the defecting crew members slowly reveal their side of the story, regarding the night the player took off from Palmont.

Securing all three districts, Darius asks the player to meet up with him, where he reveals he was just using the player all along. On the brink of being arrested by Cross, Nikki saves the player, and tells him that some of his team were telling the truth regarding about the police incident months ago, and finally joins the player's crew. Realizing that Darius was ultimately liable for the player's fall, the Player attempts to conquer Silverton, and oust Darius and his "Stacked Deck" crew, to clean up the player's reputation once and for all.

A string of final races between the player and "Stacked Deck" ensues with the player coming out as the victor in spite of Darius's efforts. Knowing the rules full-well, Darius grudgingly hands over his Audi Le Mans Quattro to the player and exiles himself from Palmont but not without warning the player to "enjoy it while it lasts, there's always someone out there who's a little faster than you are, and sooner or later they're gonna catch up...

Car customization

A heavily modified Audi Le Mans Quattro is compared to a stock Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 , showing the "Autosculpt" feature of the game.

Carbon features a new car customization option called "Autosculpt", enabling players to utilize aftermarket car parts and shape/mould the parts to their liking. Players can also have multiple and/or custom vinyls as well. Performance tuning has been redone so that players, as upgrades are purchased, can tune the car for a number of different properties, such as higher top speed or higher acceleration. Unlike Most Wanted, all of Carbon's performance tuning/enhancing and car customizing is done inside the safe house.

Characters

As with Need for Speed: Most Wanted, players will interact with key storyline characters (i.e. Darius, Nikki, Angie, Wolf, and Kenji) ranging from antagonists, and selectable "crew members" in which some claim to be connected to the player's central plot.

Because players will run a crew in the game, throughout career mode players will run into several major crews, minor crews, and "hirable" crew members as career mode progresses.

Race types

A Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX and a Lamborghini Gallardo in a Canyon Duel--a game mode that resembles touge.

Need for Speed: Carbon features about 10 race types as follows: sprint, circuit, drift, checkpoint, race wars, canyon duel, canyon sprint, canyon drift, canyon checkpoint, and speedtrap. Some race types are accessible only through the game's challenge series set.

Most of Carbon's focus lies through various canyon races, which the game's theme is based on. Players have to race against other racers, drift through canyons, or even face off against an opponent in a one-on-one competition known as a "canyon duel", borrowed from Japanese Touge races.

As with Most Wanted, cops are everywhere in Carbon. Police chases can break out at any time, including when in Free Roam mode, when racing, or just after a race is completed. Some races do not have a chance of a police pursuit, such as Canyon races, and Checkpoint races. As with Need for Speed: Most Wanted, there are 5 conditions. Players have to be careful to avoid getting pursued by state or federal authorities.

Although the pursuit system is similar to Most Wanted, this feature has been reprogrammed in Carbon to ensure that police were not too dominant in arrest tactics in high pursuit levels. Some of the police tactics (such as the spike strips) while at the same time to make pursuits much harder to escape once a pursuit initiates.^{[citation needed]}

When you hit a road block going more than 35 miles per hour, the game will go into slow motion and you see your car ram the cop cars from third person perspective. Also, if you hit a roadblock going more than 100 miles per hour, the police cars fly into the air and stay there for up to 12 seconds.

Players can choose from many licensed cars divided into three classes as follows: Tuners, Muscle cars, and Exotic cars. Each car has its own characteristic ranging from easy cornering to well-balanced road performance. Players have to learn how to master each car class in order to play the game well. Players can choose a class to start career mode on which the set of unlocks will be different.

There are 3 types of cars featured in the game

Tuner Cars - Their strongest point is handling, with decent acceleration but a low top speed. They consist of Japanese cars and mainstream European models.
Exotic Cars - Their strongest point is their top speed, but they also have decent acceleration and handling. Most of the cars in this class are from European companies. Many players of the game choose this class because it is the most balanced car type in the game.
Muscle Cars - Their strongest point is acceleration and a decent top speed. Their handling is poor though, and such cars are prone to sliding. Most cars are from companies of the United States.

The official site only lists 46 vehicles, 3 of those being special police cars.^[8]^[9]

Players can also unlock cars that are reserved for quick races as the players progress throughout the game and earn reward cards.

Cartea de succes a lui Dan Brown - Codul lui Da Vinci - a fost transformata si adaptata si intr-un joc video. Chiar daca nu va vine sa credeti, rezultatele nu sunt deloc rele. De fapt, jocul The Da Vinci Code ofera un gameplay provocator si variat care va satisface criptograful amator din fiecare.
The Da Vinci Code este in esenta un mister al unei crime care se amplifica enorm cu teorii ale conspiratiei deosebit de complexe si indelung elaborate care aduc in cele din urma la o importanta descoperire care ar putea rescrie istoria si ingenunchea biserica catolica. Suna destul de interesant, si chiar asa este. Cele doua personaje principale sunt suspectul de crima si cercetatorul de simboluri Robert Langdon si criptograful Sophie Neveu. Acestia doi parca ar fi niste roboti programati sa sparga coduri numerice, sa rezolve anagrame si mistere. Povestea jocului o urmeaza pe cea a cartii si a filmului indeaproape, asa ca fanii se vor putea bucura de o noua modalitate de abordare, avand posibilitatea de a lua parte la intreaga poveste jucand acest joc. A fost adaugat continut nou pentru a imbogati jocul, si chiar daca nu aduce vreo schimbare povestii sau firului narativ, se integreaza bine in toata intriga ilustrata.
Acest joc va va pune in situatia de a investiga scene unde s-au desfasurat crime si va va pune sa dezlegati mistere si sarade. Jocul reuseste cu brio sa mentina gameplay-ul interesant, intrucat exista multe variatii. Toate skill-urile va vor fi puse la incercare, de la rezolvarea de puzzle-uri pana la furisare si chiar lupta. Veti ajunge chiar sa jucati cu ambele caractere din carte si din film.
Majoritatea jocului este dedicata rezolvarii de mistere si puzzle-uri. Exista o mare varietate de enigme, care fac ca jocul sa fie mereu interesant si provocator. Va trebui sa rezolvati ghicitori, anagrame, sa descifrati coduri din simboluri si multe, multe altele. Se pare ca ucigasul era unul putin sarit de pe fix, intrucat a lasat foarte multe indicii pe care doar un cititor de simboluri si un criptograf le puteau descifra. Fara indoiala ca rezolvarea acestor mistere reprezinta partea cea mai reusita din The Da Vinci Code. Pe masura ce va miscati prin fiecare stagiu, veti gasi obiecte cu care veti interactiona. Destul de des, aceste zone va vor furniza indicii care vor face posibila continuarea povestii. Va trebui sa folositi o lumina ultravioleta pentru a putea citi simboluri ascunse de pe Mona Lisa, veti colectiona bucati dintr-o arbaleta pentru a o folosi impotriva unui calugar, veti amesteca chimicale pentru a curata un tablou si pentru a dezvalui un mesaj si asa mai departe. Unele dintre enigme sunt destul de dificile, si va veti impotmoli destul de mult pe parcursul jocului.
In timpul in care nu veti urmari mesajele criptate sau colectiona artefacte, va trebui sa va paziti si spatele. Robert Langdon este cautat pentru crima, asadar politia este pe urmele sale. In functie de miscarea pe care va hotarati sa o faceti, veti vedea o secventa de butoane aparand la baza ecranului, butoane ce trebuie apasate in ordinea corecta pentru ca miscarea dorita sa fie realizata cu succes. Spre exemplu, daca alegeti sa atacati, veti vedea o secventa de butoane pe care va trebui sa le apasati in ordinea data, iar daca ratati unul dintre ele sau daca va lua prea mult timp sa il apasati, atacul va esua, si veti fi pus in dezavantaj in lupta.
Cand sunteti pe aparare si adversarul va incerca sa va loveasca, alte butoane vor aparea pe ecran, si va trebui sa le apasati de asemenea in ordinea corecta pentru a va putea eschiva si feri de fiecare atac. Este o tehnica destul de simpla si mai captivanta decat lovirea in nestire a butoanelor in alte jocuri in care sunt incluse miscari de lupte.
Toate aceste elemente fac din joc unul care merita incercat. Rezolvarea de enigme, conformitatea cu cartea si filmul realizat, neprevazutul si intorsaturile de situatie atrag atentia tuturor gamerilor, atat a celor care sunt fani ai cartii sau filmului, cat si a celor ocazionali, insa spiritul de dezlegator de mistere va fi trezit in fiecare cu siguranta.
Jocul poate fi terminat in aproximativ 10 ore, aceasta depinzand cat de mult va ia rezolvarea unei enigme. Exista iteme secrete in fiecare nivel pe care le puteti colecta pentru a putea debloca lucruri precum misiuni bonus si altele. Este un joc de o lungime respectabila, iar daca sunteti fani ai jocurilor de aventuri cu siguranta il veti indragi.

Saints Row 2 is an upcoming sandbox-style action-adventure video game for Microsoft Windows^[1], PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Saints Row 2 is the second game in the Saints Row franchise. It is being developed by Volition, published by THQ and is due for release on October 14, 2008.^[2]^[3].

Gameplay

Saints Row is a third-person shooter that takes place in the city of Stilwater, a large sandbox environment. The game has many similarities with the Grand Theft Auto series, in that the game is structured around the player completing main storyline missions and side missions, earning in-game money and other benefits to assist in future missions. The player typically must travel about the city (often carjacking vehicles), meeting people or collecting objects at checkpoints, facing off rival gangs or other foes in firefights, and other tasks as part of these missions. The game's main story missions are split into three separate storylines, dealing with each of the other rival gangs in Stilwater, allowing the player to progress in each storyline at their own pace. The player may also simply free-roam the city, causing havoc or simply exploring it.

Unlike earlier Grand Theft Auto games, the player has the option to restart a mission should they fail it or are killed without having to return to the person assigning the mission. The player may also recruit fellow Saints gang members that walk the streets to assist in missions. The player can also gain "homies", special characters that can either assist in missions or grant a quick benefit such as a vehicle driven to their location.

Saints Row introduces a "respect" system that are tied to certain side missions known as "activities" within the game. These activities are given by select characters around Stilwater, and include street racing, carjacking, robbery, and insurance fraud. Each set of activities has a number of levels representing the difficulty of the task. By completing these activities, the player earns an amount of "respect" relative to the difficulty of the task. The player must accumulate a certain amount of respect before they can initiate a new mission within the game's main storyline, thus requiring the player to perform these side missions.

Stilwater is separated into several districts, initially under control of the rival gangs in the city. The player may attempt to wrest the control of these districts by either defeating the portion of the gang that controls the area or by taking over a stronghold within district in order to bring the district under the Saints' control, and gaining respect. The game uses a similar system to Grand Theft Auto's "wanted level"; should the player cause too much havoc against the general populace of Stilwater, the police will begin to chase the player. In a similar manner, if the player interferes too much with the other gangs, these gangs will also begin to chase down the player until the player can escape and allow the attention to cool down.

The game allows the player to create a customized male character using a number of different features, including facial and body makeup. Furthermore, the player can dress their character in numerous styles of clothes available from shops around Stilwater. The choice of color and style of the clothes can affect the game, as by dressing in the Saints' colors (purple) will earn the player more respect for completing missions. The player can further customize their character through facial hair, jewelry and tattoos. Additionally, the player can perform custom paint jobs on their cars, and purchase new in-game music through the city's stores.

Multiplayer

The game also has an online multiplayer mode for Xbox Live that supports up to 1-12 people.^[3] Players can join a gang and engage in street warfare with other gangs online. Saints Row features 2 different online games. Gangsta Brawl (and the team-based version) is a standard deathmatch.^[3] Blinged Out Ride is another team based game in which two teams must raise enough money from killing opponents and collecting cash to upgrade the team's vehicle several times in the Chop Shop.

Downloadable content

During the X06 Convention in Barcelona, Spain in September 2006, the "Funky Fresh Pack" was released on the Xbox Live Marketplace as the game's first downloadable content. The item, which cost 100 Microsoft Points, added 23 different clothing and tattoo items for use in both the single and multiplayer modes. In December 2006, the "Ho Ho Ho Pack" was released, adding Santa Claus themed clothing items. The pack is free to download. In January 2007, another free downloadable pack was released. The UnKut pack installs clothes designed by UnKut and features shirts, jackets, overshirts, pants and hats.
